Our Origin
aurenzafeature was founded in 2019 in Helsinki by a collective of travel writers, hospitality consultants, and design enthusiasts who shared a frustration: the Nordic market lacked a trusted, editorial voice for extraordinary resort destinations beyond Europe's familiar corridors.
We set out to build something different — not a booking engine, not an aggregator, but a curated editorial platform that treats each destination as a story worth telling. Our first feature was The Palace of the Lost City at Sun City Resort in South Africa's North West Province, and it remains the centrepiece of our portfolio.
The Palace of the Lost City
Opened in 1992, The Palace is the crown jewel of Sun City Resort — a five-star hotel conceived by South African resort pioneer Sol Kerzner as a fantastical African kingdom brought to life. Its architecture draws from Moorish, Far Eastern, and indigenous African influences, creating a visual language found nowhere else on earth.
Set against the backdrop of the Pilanesberg mountain range and surrounded by 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, The Palace offers 338 rooms and suites, four restaurants, the Royal Baths spa, and direct access to Sun City's broader entertainment precinct — including the Superbowl theatre, Valley of Waves, and The Salon.
aurenzafeature is not affiliated with Sun International or Sun City Resort. We are an independent editorial and concierge brand that presents this destination to Finnish and Nordic audiences with editorial integrity and local expertise from our Helsinki office.
Sun City Resort
Sun City has been a fixture of African hospitality since 1979, when it first opened in what was then the bantustan of Bophuthatswana. Over four decades, it has evolved from a bold experiment into a globally recognised resort complex spanning 11 hotels, two championship golf courses, a water park, wildlife experiences, and one of the continent's largest entertainment venues.
The resort sits approximately two hours by road from Johannesburg and shares a boundary with the Pilanesberg National Park — a 550-square-kilometre game reserve set within an ancient volcanic crater. This unique geography means guests can enjoy five-star luxury and Big Five safaris within the same holiday.
Our Helsinki Team
aurenzafeature Oy operates from Mannerheimintie 12 in central Helsinki. Our small team of eight combines editorial, concierge, and membership services for The Circle programme. We publish seasonal guides, maintain this website, and provide direct email and telephone support for Finnish travellers planning their Sun City journey.
We believe travel should be intentional — not transactional. Every piece of content on aurenzafeature.com is written by people who have walked the Palace gardens, dined at Crystal Court, and watched the sun set over the bushveld from a Royal Suite balcony.
